Spinnova And Suzano Postpone Timetable For Factory Project
Spinnova Plc and Suzano S.A. have delayed the next stage of their wood-based SPINNOVA fibre factory project, originally set to begin in the second half of 2024. The delay stems from the process not meeting cost efficiency targets by year-end.
While several sub-processes have been approved, the full pulp-to-fibre process requires further validation. Both companies are exploring alternative solutions to expedite efficiency validation. Suzano focuses on micro fibrillated cellulose (MFC) development, while Spinnova leads fibre technology advancements.
In parallel, Spinnova is expanding its test facility to demonstrate the complete process and test non-wood raw materials, aligning with its strategy to diversify its raw material base and commercialize its technology. Despite the setback, Spinnova remains committed to its 2024 goals.
