Surat’s Textile Industry Gets A Boost With Launch Of Mega Textile Series TANA BANA

The Institute of Engineers has initiated a groundbreaking program, the Mega Textile Series TANA BANA, aimed at fortifying Surat’s textile industry at the grassroots level. In collaboration with various industry partners, knowledge partners, and associations, the program seeks to empower textile entrepreneurs by facilitating discussions on crucial techno-commercial topics affecting profitability and productivity.

The inaugural session, held on Saturday, 20th April 2024 at the Institution of Engineers, Mahida Bhawan Building in Surat, witnessed esteemed business leaders addressing the audience. Ajay Ajmera, Founder of Ajmera Fashions, shared insights on branding strategies, emphasizing the significance of creating unique brands for sustainable business growth. Amitava Banerjee, COO of Garden Silk Mills Pvt. Ltd., shed light on the polyester value chain, highlighting global market trends and India’s promising position in the textile market.

Another notable speaker, Deepak Sheta of Apple Lifestyle Pvt Ltd., discussed the future of Surat’s textile industry over the next five years, accentuating the city’s emergence as a global textile hub. Rajnikat Bachkaniwala of Himson Group of Industries addressed the importance of modernization and equipment upgrades in enhancing productivity within the textile sector.

The event also featured a panel discussion led by Sandeep Dangi, focusing on the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats (SWOT) of Surat’s textile industry. Panelists provided valuable insights, with emphasis placed on the potential opportunities stemming from initiatives like the PM MITRA park.

The Institution of Engineers, Surat, plans to host similar programs under the TANA BANA series on every 3rd Saturday of the month. The event concluded with a vote of thanks and the national anthem, marking a promising step forward for Surat’s vibrant textile industry.
