Yet Another Bangla Garment Factory Bags Green LEED Certificate
Yet another Bangladesh apparel factory, Fashion Makers Ltd has been awarded with the green certification Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) in Platinum category.
Of the top 100 green garment factories globally, 55 are located in Bangladesh, which is above 50 percent of all global clothing factories who have been awarded the LEED certificate.
Data from Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) said that 16 other countries have 45 green garment factories, which includes Pakistan with nine and India with eight.
With the latest green certification, the South Asian country now has 215 LEED green factories, of which, 81 are Platinum rated, 120 are Gold rated, 10 are Silver rated and only four are just green certified.
Fashion Makers is one of the oldest business houses in Bangladesh and is a market leader in the manufacturing and exporting of garments.
