Tashkent Region Mayor Visits Textile-Industrial Park Construction Site
On July 4, Zoir Mirzayev, mayor of the Tashkent region, visited the construction site of a textile-industrial park in the Yukorichirchik district. Accompanied by the head of the regional chamber of commerce and industry and other key officials, the visit highlighted the progress of the project in the Nurli Zamin mahalla, spanning 69 hectares.
The $350 million textile industry park comprises 23 lots and aims to significantly boost the regional economy. Construction began in February 2023, with completion expected in the fourth quarter of 2025. The park is projected to generate over 2,000 new jobs, enhancing local employment and economic activity.
This development aligns with President Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s May 1 decree to advance Uzbekistan’s textile and knitting industry. The decree mandates creating centres for designers, fashion designers and marketers in Tashkent and three other regions, fostering innovation and skill development.
Additionally, a 30-hectare plot in New Tashkent has been allocated for constructing a wholesale market and a centre for light industry products, housing imported materials essential for textile production. This initiative aims to streamline the supply chain and ensure high-quality materials for local manufacturers.
The textile industry park and associated projects underscore Uzbekistan’s commitment to modernizing its textile industry, enhancing competitiveness, creating job opportunities and driving economic growth.
