Thiagarajar Mills Group, Germany’s Euro Textiles Plan Rs 100-Crore Weaving Venture

Thiagarajar Mills Group has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Germany’s Euro Textiles GmbH & Co. KG to establish a Rs 100-crore textile manufacturing venture at Virudhunagar in Tamil Nadu, targeting global markets with premium cotton jacquard fabrics and value-added products.
The agreement was signed through a group company of Madurai-based Thiagarajar Mills Private Ltd. Commercial production is targeted to begin within eight months, according to a company statement.
The proposed facility will house 48 advanced air-jet looms equipped with jacquard technology, supported by modern warping and sizing facilities. It will initially focus on premium-quality 100% cotton jacquard fabrics and other value-added textiles for export.
The first phase will have an annual production capacity of 3 million metres. A second phase is planned to double capacity to 6 million metres annually, allowing the venture to expand in line with export demand.
The second phase will also focus on value-added technical textiles and niche patented fabrics, catering to emerging applications beyond conventional textile markets.
The partnership aims to combine advanced manufacturing capabilities with stronger access to international markets. Highlighting the export opportunity, the statement said India’s fabric exports to the European Union stood at approximately US$ 80 million in 2025, against the bloc’s fabric imports of US$ 2,380 million.
