Uzbekistan Textile & Apparel Exports Slip 3.8% In 2023
Uzbekistan exported textile and garments totaling to US $3 billion in 2023, which is a 3.8 percent slip over its previous year.
Among these, exports of yarn reached $1.2 billion and accounted for 41 percent of all textile and garment exports.
“While exports of finished textile products also touched $1.2 billion and accounted for 41.1 percent of these exports,” data from the Uzbekistan Statistics agency stated.
According to the data, the country exported textiles and apparels to 65 countries and totaled 639 textile and garment product varieties.
“Uzbekistan has recently unveiled a series of initiatives aimed at fostering growth and supporting companies with international brand portfolios in the textile sector,” Daryo reported
The initiatives prioritise development of synthetic fibre production, enhancing textile dyeing processes, and improving the finishing of ready-made garments.
To support the growth of the textile sector, the Reconstruction and Development Fund will allocate $200 million for new high-value-added projects.
These projects will primarily focus on the production of synthetic fibre yarn, with a target of implementing 15 projects by August 1, 2024, resulting in a combined production capacity of 125,000 tons.
