Uzbekistan’s Cotton Production Hits Record Highs In 2023

Uzbekistan’s cotton production has reached a record high of 3.8 million tons, an increase of 8.3 percent as against the earlier year.

This information was shared by Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev in a statement on the occasion of Agricultural Workers’ Day.

Uzbekistan is the sixth largest cotton producer in the world, after China, India, the United States, Pakistan, and Brazil.

The country has stopped exporting raw cotton in recent years to provide easy availiability of cotton to the growing domestic spinning industry.

The textile industry of the country has also gone through significant changes from just producing cotton to now spinning yarn, manufacturing and processing of fabrics and also garmenting.
