VF Corp Expands Recycled Polyester Sourcing To 40 Percent

Marketer of iconic clothing brands like Timberland, The North Face and Vans, VF Corp has increased sourcing of recycled polyester to 40 percent in fiscal 2022.

“This is an improvement from 36 percent in fiscal 2021 and in the process has attained 80 percent of its target to use 50 percent recycled polyester by fiscal 2026,” VF said in its Environmental & Social Responsibility report.

Among other initiatives, in the US, the retailer increased representation of Black, Indigenous and People of Colour (BIPOC) to 19 percent up from 18.1 in earlier fiscal.

Globally, women represented 42.3 percent of VF’s leadership community, also up from 41.8 percent in previous fiscal, with a target to achieve gender parity by 2030.

VF said it is committed to championing the fundamental human rights of everyone involved in its business operations and supply chain.

“Our vision is to foster inclusive and sustained economic growth and development that offers decent work opportunities to workers throughout our value chain,” the company added.

The Worker & Community Development (WCD) program achieved over 80 percent of the near-team goal to improve the lives of one million workers and their communities by fiscal 2026 and 2 million by fiscal 2031.

Investing in traceability across the supply chain, the progress includes tracing 72 percent of its wool supply chain from farm to finished product in fiscal 2023.
