VJTI Opens Upgraded Chemistry Department With Rs 1 Cr Donation
Veermata Jijabai Technological Institute (VJTI) celebrated a major milestone with the inauguration of its newly renovated Department of Technical and Applied Chemistry. The upgraded facilities, featuring state-of-the-art chemical engineering labs and modernized faculty spaces, mark a significant step in VJTI’s mission to become a global leader in technical education.
The transformation was made possible by a generous donation of Rs 1 crore from Sunil Chari, Managing Director of Rossari Biotech and a distinguished VJTI alumnus. Speaking at the event, Chari reflected on his journey from VJTI to becoming a biotechnology industry leader and emphasized the role the institute played in his success.
“VJTI was instrumental in shaping my career. This donation is just a small way to give back. The new facilities will empower students with world-class resources, inspiring them to dream big and aim high,” said Chari. He also urged other alumni to actively support the institute, not only through donations but by mentoring students and sharing industry expertise. “This initiative is not just about infrastructure upgrades—it’s about nurturing future leaders and creating an environment that fosters innovation, entrepreneurship and global competitiveness.”
VJTI Director Sachin Kore lauded Chari’s contribution and reiterated the institution’s commitment to academic excellence and research leadership. “This isn’t just a renovation; it’s an investment in the future of our students and Indian technical education,” Kore said. He outlined VJTI’s ambitious plans, including aspirations for university status, the establishment of a Center of Excellence in Artificial Intelligence, and collaboration on the Maharashtra Drone Mission. “VJTI is ready to lead India’s technological revolution. With continued support from alumni and industry, we will reclaim our position among the world’s top institutions,” Kore added.
The event featured a keynote address by Anjani Prasad, Managing Director and Regional Vice President of Archroma, who underscored the need for academic institutions to align with global industry trends in AI, digitalization and sustainability. “Educational institutions must evolve to keep pace with the rapid changes in industry. Rossari Biotech’s contribution is an exemplary model of how industries can uplift education. The future of our industries depends on the quality of education we provide today,” Prasad remarked, encouraging stronger academia-industry collaboration.
Organized by VJTI’s Department of Technical and Applied Chemistry in association with CHEMSA-VJTI Alumni Association, the event drew enthusiastic participation from students, faculty and alumni. The new facilities are expected to enhance VJTI’s research capabilities and create a forward-thinking educational environment.
With this upgrade, VJTI is positioned to produce graduates ready to excel on the global stage and play a pivotal role in India’s emergence as a hub of technological innovation and industrial leadership.
