WestPoint Home Expands Bahrain Operations, Adds Towel Production Line

U.S.-based textile major WestPoint Home has launched Phase 1 of its new towel production line at its Bahrain manufacturing complex, reinforcing the Kingdom’s role as a strategic base for global growth.
The facility, inaugurated by Abdulla bin Adel Fakhro, Minister of Industry and Commerce, represents an additional US$ 5 million investment, taking the company’s total investment in Bahrain to over US$ 170 million since 2006.
With the new line, WestPoint Home becomes the only single-site producer of both linens and towels in the Middle East, adding capacity for 4 million towels annually alongside premium bed linen and home textiles. The expansion is designed with sustainability features to reduce environmental impact.
The event was attended by senior officials, including Noor bint Ali Alkhulaif, Minister of Sustainable Development, and Elizabeth Litchfield, Chargé d’Affaires, U.S. Embassy Manama, along with industry representatives and key regional customers.
From Bahrain, the company supplies the GCC, U.S., U.K., and European markets, exporting more than US$ 1 billion worth of products to the U.S. since its establishment. Its client list includes Ralph Lauren, Marriott, Hilton, Westin, and Amazon.
The expansion is also set to boost local employment, with WestPoint Home Bahrain currently employing about 1,300 people, including 101 Bahraini nationals across engineering, quality assurance, HR and corporate functions.
“Bahrain’s business-friendly environment and modern infrastructure make it an ideal foundation for growth,” said Jonathan Storie, President & CEO of WestPoint Home, adding that sustainability remains central to its manufacturing.
The company hinted at Phase 2 expansion tied to the ongoing GCC–UK free trade talks, which would allow significant export growth into the U.K.
