Kraig Biocraft Wins Government Land for Spider Silk Scale-Up

Kraig Biocraft Laboratories, Inc., a global leader in spider silk technology, has secured usage rights to a strategic block of government-owned mulberry gardens located near its spider silk production operations in Southeast Asia, supporting a major expansion of its manufacturing capacity.
The land-use rights were granted by a key government agency under Kraig Labs’ collaborative partnership with local authorities, with the company paying a nominal rental fee. The mulberry gardens will provide a reliable supply of high-quality feedstock essential for scaling up recombinant spider silk production, enabling increased output of high-performance spider silk yarns for performance textiles, technical apparel and luxury fashion applications.
The newly secured acreage strengthens Kraig Labs’ supply chain by improving feedstock availability and logistics efficiency, aligning land access directly with production capacity and downstream processing. This integration is a central element of the company’s long-term expansion strategy.
The development follows Kraig Labs’ recently announced order from a leading performance sports apparel brand. The company is currently preparing materials for the customer’s pilot development programme using its recombinant spider silk fibres. Access to the additional mulberry acreage enhances Kraig Labs’ ability to meet anticipated commercial demand as it moves towards broader market adoption.
Commenting on the development, Kim Thompson, Founder and CEO of Kraig Biocraft Laboratories, said: “Securing access to these mulberry gardens is a critical step in building a resilient and integrated production ecosystem for our spider silk technologies. Direct access to high-quality mulberry acreage strengthens our supply chain and positions us to accelerate production of our BAM-1 Alpha hybrid spider silk. This collaboration also reflects government confidence in the economic and technological potential of our work.”
As the land is brought under Kraig Labs’ control, the company will prepare the gardens for integration into its expanding production pipeline, deploying additional staffing and operational resources to support near-term output increases and long-term commercialisation plans.
