Karl Mayer To Open Textile Innovation Centre In Germany

Karl Mayer is set to open its new Textile Innovation Centre (TIC) in Obertshausen, Germany, a facility designed to accelerate textile development and foster collaboration across the global textile industry.
Spanning 5,000 square metres, the centre will provide advanced infrastructure for textile research, product development and machine trials. The company said the TIC will serve as a collaborative hub where customers, brands and technology partners can work alongside Karl Mayer experts to develop next-generation textile solutions, particularly in high-performance and technical fabrics.
The facility features a dedicated showroom showcasing the latest textile samples, concept fabrics and trend collections across categories such as fashion and apparel, sports textiles, footwear, home textiles and technical textiles. The showroom will also highlight innovative solutions for the growing workwear segment, including protective and office-ready textile applications.
A key component of the TIC is the InspirationHub, which provides access to nearly 90 years of textile design and development archives, offering a resource for designers and developers seeking inspiration for new materials and applications.
The centre is also equipped with a range of advanced warp knitting and textile machinery to support real-world testing, production simulations and prototype development. These include high-performance warp knitting machines, next-generation Raschel machines for shade netting production, and specialised equipment for fibre spreading, technical textiles and performance materials.
The company will officially inaugurate the Textile Innovation Centre from April 21 to 24, 2026, in Obertshausen, alongside the industry event Techtextil Frankfurt.
