Durst Group Appoints Wolfgang Knotz As CTO To Drive Technology Transformation

Durst Group has appointed Wolfgang Knotz as Chief Technology Officer (CTO), effective April 1, 2026, reinforcing its strategic shift from a machinery manufacturer to a technology-driven solutions provider. The announcement comes as the company marks its 90th anniversary.
Knotz brings extensive experience within the organisation, having held multiple leadership roles since joining in 2013. Most recently, he served as Managing Director of Durst Austria GmbH, overseeing technological and operational activities at the Lienz site. Earlier, as Head of Development, he played a key role in advancing and optimising the company’s digital printing systems, contributing significantly to its technological leadership.
His appointment aligns with Durst Group’s ongoing transformation, including initiatives such as Kyveris, which are accelerating the transition toward data-driven and connected production solutions.
Christoph Gamper, CEO and co-owner of Durst Group, noted that the appointment followed a rigorous global selection process involving over 600 candidates. He emphasised that Knotz’s combination of technical expertise, strategic vision and deep organisational understanding made him the ideal choice.
Knotz highlighted a shared vision with the leadership team to evolve Durst into a holistic technology and solutions provider, driven by innovation and integrated capabilities.
In his new role, he will lead the Group’s technology agenda, focusing on the integration of software, data, automation and new business models. The aim is to further strengthen Durst Group’s innovation capabilities and deliver more comprehensive, end-to-end solutions to customers worldwide.
The appointment signals Durst Group’s continued commitment to shaping its technological future while building on its legacy of innovation.
