PM Modi Inaugurates India’s First Functional PM MITRA Park At Warangal

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the PM MITRA Park at Warangal, marking a major milestone in India’s textile and industrial development journey. Developed at a project cost of Rs 1,695.54 crore, the park becomes the country’s first functional PM MITRA Park and represents a significant step toward strengthening India’s integrated textile manufacturing ecosystem.
The mega textile park operationalises the Government of India’s ambitious 5F vision — Farm to Fibre to Factory to Fashion to Foreign — aimed at building globally competitive textile infrastructure and enhancing India’s position in international textile trade.
Strategically located near the proposed Nagpur–Vijayawada Greenfield Expressway, the PM MITRA Park offers strong multimodal connectivity through major railway networks and seaports, enabling efficient logistics and smoother access to domestic and export markets. The connectivity advantage is expected to significantly improve supply chain efficiency for textile manufacturers operating within the park.
The Ministry of Textiles, Government of India had approved the establishment of seven PM MITRA Parks across Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh in March 2023 to create a world-class textile infrastructure ecosystem in the country.
The Government of Telangana had earlier proposed the inclusion of the Kakatiya Mega Textile Park under the PM MITRA Scheme in March 2022 with the objective of expanding infrastructure and accelerating industrial investments in the region. Following approval under the brownfield category of the PM MITRA Scheme, the park became eligible for development capital support of Rs 200 crore along with Competitive Incentive Support (CIS) of Rs 300 crore for industries setting up operations within the park.

The Detailed Project Report for the Warangal PM MITRA Park includes major infrastructure enhancements such as the upgradation of the Common Effluent Treatment Plant into a Zero Liquid Discharge facility, establishment of a common boiler facility for processing units, expansion of worker dormitories, and development of a 10 MW solar power plant. These facilities are designed to benchmark the park against globally competitive textile mega parks while promoting sustainability and operational efficiency.
Out of the total 548 acres allotted for industrial use in the park, nearly 310 acres have already been allocated to industries after the announcement of the PM MITRA project, reflecting strong investor interest and confidence in the initiative.
Industries operating within the PM MITRA Park will not only benefit from world-class shared infrastructure but will also receive Competitive Incentive Support under the scheme. Each PM MITRA Park has an allocated CIS fund of Rs 300 crore aimed at attracting manufacturing investments and making the parks globally competitive destinations for textile production.
In addition, manufacturing units in PM MITRA Parks are eligible for benefits through convergence with various Government of India schemes, including the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme for textiles. One such example is Evertop Textile and Apparel Complex Pvt. Ltd., which is setting up operations at the Warangal PM MITRA Park and is also a beneficiary under the PLI Scheme. The company is expected to generate employment for around 12,800 people with a proposed investment of Rs 1,051 crore and an estimated annual turnover of Rs 1,990 crore.
The PM MITRA initiative is expected to significantly enhance investor confidence by combining central government support, modern infrastructure, sustainability-focused development, and integration with India’s broader textile growth strategy. With its elevation under the PM MITRA framework, the Kakatiya Mega Textile Park has effectively transformed from a state-level industrial project into a nationally prioritized and globally positioned textile manufacturing ecosystem.
