Mysuru Targets US$500 Million Textile Exports By 2030

Mysuru district has unveiled an ambitious Export Promotion Plan to increase textile and apparel (T&A) exports to US$500 million by 2030, nearly ten times its current export value of US$53 million.
The roadmap was presented at the district-level workshop, Taking Textiles to the Global Market, inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner G. Lakshmikanth Reddy.
The plan envisages a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of around 45% over the next five years. In FY2024-25, Mysuru recorded total exports of about US$820 million, with textiles and apparel contributing US$53 million, or nearly 2% of Karnataka’s T&A exports. The district currently has more than 10 active textile and apparel exporters.
Mysuru’s industrial ecosystem comprises over 61,500 MSMEs and 25,447 industrial units, supported by eight Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board (KIADB) industrial estates. Textiles have been identified as a key growth sector alongside engineering, food processing, IT, tourism and agriculture.
The district also plans to build on its textile heritage. The Karnataka Silk Industries Corporation (KSIC), established in 1912, operates 229 looms and produces around 75,000 Mysore silk sarees annually. A dedicated silk cluster and a proposed textile park are expected to further strengthen the sector.
Mysuru exports garments, sportswear, furnishing fabrics and technical textiles, including FIBCs, polypropylene fabrics, container liners and flexi tanks. Europe, the US, Japan and the Middle East are its key export markets.
