ASK Scandinavia Launches Nova Tote With Spinnova’s Sustainable Materials

ASK Scandinavia has unveiled the Nova tote, crafted with Spinnova’s innovative materials, now available for pre-order on their webshop. The tote combines 30% wood-based Spinnova fibres and 70% cotton, dyed using a natural dye made from Paulig’s coffee waste, produced by Natural Indigo Finland. This collaboration offers a sustainable, minimalist design, highlighting durability and usability, perfect for everyday use. The tote is available in an amber shade, derived from coffee waste, demonstrating a forward-thinking approach to eco-friendly fashion.

Paulig’s coffee roastery in Helsinki, one of Europe’s largest, produces over 60 million coffee packages annually, generating inevitable coffee ground waste. Natural Indigo Finland has transformed this waste into a natural dye for fabric, offering a more sustainable alternative to traditional dyeing methods.

Anette Cantagallo, Director of Design and Sustainability at ASK Scandinavia, commented, “The ASK x Spinnova bag is a perfect blend of Nordic design and innovative textile technology, where timeless design meets eco-friendly materials to shape a more sustainable future for fashion.”

Pasi Ainasoja, CEO of Natural Indigo Finland, added, “Utilizing coffee waste as an ecological dye is a step forward in supporting sustainable development in the textile industry.”

The collaboration aligns with Spinnova’s strategy to expand its fibre market and promote sustainable product applications. Shahriare Mahmood, Chief Product and Sustainability Officer at Spinnova, noted, “We are thrilled to be part of this collaboration, tackling sustainability issues across the textile production, dyeing and design processes.”

A limited edition of the Nova tote bags is now available for pre-order.
