Nantong Teijin Recognized For Significant Efforts In Water Conservation

Teijin Frontier Co., Ltd. Has announced that its subsidiary, Nantong Teijin Co., Ltd., has been recognized by China’s Jiangsu Provincial Department of Ecology and Environment for its significant reduction in water usage, amounting to approximately 300,000 tonnes per year. Nantong Teijin, based in Jiangsu Province, manufactures polyester long-fibre woven and knitted fabrics and has developed innovative equipment and systems to analyze, recover, store and reuse wastewater from its dyeing processes. This initiative, which began in 2022, has also led to a 4% reduction in CO2 emissions, as confirmed by a third-party lifecycle assessment based on ISO 14040 standards.

As a result of these efforts, Nantong Teijin has earned certification as a model company for environmental initiatives in the Yangtze River Delta region. The certification, aimed at enhancing ecological protection in the area, recognizes companies that have effectively reduced their environmental impacts. Nantong Teijin was one of five companies selected from a pool of 164 recommendations, and it stands out as the only Japanese company and textile manufacturer among the top-rated firms.

Teijin Frontier Group continues to champion environmentally friendly manufacturing practices under its THINK ECO initiative. Building on this recognition, Nantong Teijin plans to extend its water conservation efforts to other group companies, furthering its commitment to sustainable manufacturing.
