During the interaction, Singh emphasized the textile industry’s growing role in driving exports, manufacturing expansion and employment generation. He outlined several policy priorities that industry stakeholders believe are critical to sustaining momentum across the value chain.
Among the key issues raised were the continuation of the Rebate of State and Central Taxes and Levies (RoSCTL) scheme, greater support for the cotton ecosystem and initiatives to encourage domestic manufacturing of textile machinery. Discussions also focused on creating a conducive environment for investment and job creation as India seeks to expand its share in global textile and apparel trade.
Singh also shared insights from Welspun’s growth journey, highlighting the importance of innovation, scale, and policy support in building globally competitive textile enterprises.
The meeting highlighted the industry’s appreciation for the government’s continued emphasis on textiles through targeted policy interventions and budgetary allocations in recent years. According to industry representatives, these measures have contributed to enhancing India’s manufacturing capabilities, attracting investments and strengthening the country’s position as a major global sourcing destination.
