Bangladesh Seeks Chinese Investment In Yarn & Fabric Sector

The Bangladesh garment industry has sought China’s investment in textile backward linkage industries in Bangladesh that would benefit both sides.

A delegation of the China Knitting Industrial Association and the China Cotton Textile Association met representatives of the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) recently.

The discussions focused on trade and investment opportunities, fostering collaboration, and expanding business scope between Bangladesh and China in the textile and garment sector.

During the meeting BGMEA President Faruque Hassan emphasised on China’s support in enhancing capabilities through the exchange of knowledge and technical expertise.

He said the shift to manmade fibre (MMF) apparels would lead to an increase in demand for MMF yarns and fabrics and other raw materials.

“Considering China’s huge capacity in the MMF yarns and fabrics sector, China is well-positioned to meet Bangladesh’s requirements,” Hassan stated.

The visit aimed at exploring potential collaboration, particularly in the textile and apparel sector, to derive mutual trade benefits.

Representatives from various Chinese companies specialising in textile machinery, yarns, fabrics, textile dyes and chemicals were also part of the delegation.
