Bangladesh To Invest $19.53 Million In Mongla EPZ
Bangladesh BaoRui Textile Co. Ltd., a Chinese enterprise, has signed an agreement with the Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (BEPZA) to establish a composite textile manufacturing facility in the Mongla Export Processing Zone (EPZ). The $19.53 million investment aims to strengthen Bangladesh’s textile sector and boost local employment opportunities.
The agreement was formalized at a ceremony held at the BEPZA Complex in Dhaka. BEPZA’s Executive Chairman, Major General Abul Kalam Mohammad Ziaur Rahman, oversaw the event, while Md. Ashraful Kabir, Member (Investment Promotion) of BEPZA, and Huang Hua, Managing Director of Bangladesh BaoRui Textile Co. Ltd., signed on behalf of their respective organizations.
Bangladesh BaoRui Textile’s facility is projected to produce 10 million lbs of raw yarn, 6 million lbs of knitted fabric, and 1 million garments annually. This initiative is expected to create 1,505 jobs for Bangladeshi nationals, contributing to the region’s economic growth.
During the signing, the BEPZA Executive Chairman expressed gratitude to Bangladesh BaoRui Textile for selecting Mongla EPZ, emphasizing the zone’s supportive infrastructure and secure environment for investors. He encouraged further Chinese investments in emerging sectors such as pharmaceuticals, solar energy and man-made fibres.
Senior BEPZA officials, including Executive Directors Md. Tanvir Hossain, Md. Khorshid Alam, A.S.M. Zamshed Khondaker and A.S.M. Anwar Parvez, were present at the event, highlighting BEPZA’s commitment to fostering international partnerships and driving economic development.
