Bodice Unveils Eco Collection with Bemberg

In a striking return to the runway, contemporary Indian fashion label Bodice unveiled its latest collection at its flagship store in New Delhi, in collaboration with Bemberg, the regenerated cellulose fibre brand by Asahi Kasei Corporation, Japan. The showcase marks a journey of self-discovery, transformation and mindful fashion, bringing together heritage textiles, modern techniques and sustainable design.

The garments in the collection are crafted using Bemberg yarn-based fabrics, produced in India’s renowned textile hubs—Surat and Varanasi. This collaboration draws inspiration from a journey that began in November 2024, when Bodice founder and creative director Ruchika Sachdeva visited Japan. Her immersive experience in Kyoto and Nobeoka—the site of Bemberg’s production facility—deepened her appreciation for Japanese craftsmanship and Bemberg’s sustainable legacy.

The creative journey continued in India, where Ruchika and her team sourced fabrics from artisans in Surat and Varanasi, bringing together Japanese precision and Indian tradition. The result is a collection that celebrates transformation, identity and sustainability.

At the core of this collection is Bodice’s signature blend of structure and softness, elevated by the use of Bemberg, a fibre known for its eco-conscious credentials. The collection features hand brush-printing in collaboration with Jaipur’s block-printing artisans, along with upcycled colour-blocking techniques, where fabric scraps are given new life through bold, structured silhouettes. With a focus on longevity and timeless appeal, the pieces embody a more responsible and thoughtful approach to fashion.

“Japan has always been a huge source of inspiration for me,” shared Ruchika Sachdeva. “This collaboration with Bemberg came at the perfect moment in my journey as a designer. It’s more than a collection—it’s a reflection, a dialogue between past and future, tradition and modernity.”

Takeshi Iitaka, General Manager of the Bemberg Division at Asahi Kasei Corporation, said, “Bemberg has operated with an eye toward environmental harmony since 1931. This collaboration with Bodice aligns with our core philosophy of working with like-minded partners, and we are honoured to unite two countries and cultures through innovation and shared values.”

Set against a lush spring-inspired backdrop with evocative soundscapes, the presentation emphasized the collection’s narrative—transformation, balance and evolving identity—brought to life through form, texture and movement.

This Bodice x Bemberg collection stands as a testament to the power of cross-cultural collaboration and conscious creativity in shaping the future of fashion.
