Chhattisgarh CM Invites Textile Investment, Highlights New Policy

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai on Wednesday urged the textile industry to leverage the state’s investor-friendly ecosystem, backed by a reimagined industrial policy and abundant natural resources, to fuel its next phase of growth.

Speaking at an event organised by the Clothing Manufacturers Association of India (CMAI), following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Chhattisgarh government and CMAI, Sai called the agreement a “significant milestone” in advancing the textile sector and generating employment for the state’s youth.

“The MoU will help not only in the expansion of the textile industry but also in the branding and promotion of garments made from natural fibres such as Chhattisgarh’s famed ‘Kosa’ silk,” he said.

Aligning the state’s development vision with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Viksit Bharat 2047’, Sai said Chhattisgarh was firmly moving towards becoming a ‘Viksit Chhattisgarh’ through industrial advancement.

He noted that the newly launched industrial policy had already attracted investment proposals worth Rs 4.5 lakh crore during investor summits held in Raipur, Mumbai, Delhi, and Bengaluru.

“With this, Chhattisgarh has joined the league of top-performing states in terms of attracting investments,” the chief minister stated.

Sai underlined the importance of the garment sector in rural employment, technology integration, and skill development, adding that the new industrial policy places special emphasis on supporting micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the textile value chain.

“We are offering exclusive incentives to units employing over 1,000 people, directly benefiting small and medium enterprises. Additionally, our single-window clearance system has evolved from ease of doing business to speed of doing business,” Sai said. He noted that the state had implemented over 350 reforms to create an environment conducive to swift and seamless industrial growth.

Highlighting Chhattisgarh’s strategic central location, Sai said its connectivity advantages—by road, rail, and air, make it ideal for textile and apparel investments. He also announced that cargo facilities would be launched at Raipur Airport this year.

The state, he added, is undertaking railway projects worth Rs 48,000 crore, which will significantly enhance logistics infrastructure. Furthermore, the expressway between Raipur and Visakhapatnam is progressing rapidly and is expected to offer direct access to the eastern seaport, providing a logistics boost to export-driven businesses.

Assuring full support to investors, Sai made a direct appeal to industry stakeholders present at the event. “I invite textile businesses from across the country and the world to invest in Chhattisgarh and become a part of its growth journey,” he said.

Later, while speaking to the media, the chief minister reiterated the state’s readiness to emerge as a textile hub, pointing to its surplus water and power supply and abundant raw materials.

“With the MoU signed today, we are confident of significant development in Chhattisgarh’s textile sector and the creation of employment opportunities for local communities,” he concluded.
