CAI Urges Cotton Traders To Boycott Türkiye Over Anti-India Stance

In a strong appeal to the Indian cotton trading community, the Cotton Association of India (CAI) has urged a complete halt to all cotton trade with Türkiye, citing the country’s anti-India stance and its alignment with Pakistan during recent geopolitical tensions.
In a circular issued by President Atul S. Ganatra of CAI, the association highlighted Türkiye’s alleged support to Pakistan during India’s ongoing Operation Sindoor. The letter claims that Türkiye has supplied drones, weapons, and other military aid to Pakistan and raised anti-India narratives, particularly on the Kashmir issue, in global forums including the United Nations.
“Türkiye’s actions are against our Nation’s sovereignty and integrity,” the letter stated. It also outlined the trade imbalance, noting that in 2024, Türkiye imported cotton and related materials worth US$ 74.27 million from India, while India’s total exports to Türkiye amounted to US$ 2.84 billion.
Calling for solidarity within the cotton trading sector, the CAI urged stakeholders to explore alternative markets and support a strong, self-reliant India. “We urge you to lend whole-hearted support to the Boycott Türkiye Campaign,” Ganatra emphasized.
