SCZONE, GS Global Sign US$ 15M Deal For Qantara West Garment Plant

The General Authority for the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE) has signed a contract with GS Global Sourcing Co., Ltd, a leading Chinese apparel manufacturer, to establish a new ready-made garments production facility in the Qantara West Industrial Zone. The agreement was formalized by SCZONE Chairman Waleid Gamal El-Dien and Luo Ju, legal representative and board member of GS Global Sourcing, in the presence of senior officials.

The project will span 27,000 square meters and involve a US$ 15 million investment, fully self-financed by the company. Once operational, the facility is expected to create 2,000 direct job opportunities and manufacture over 12 million garment units annually, with 100% of production earmarked for export.

Qantara West Industrial Zone has emerged as a strategic destination for specialized investments in textiles and garment manufacturing, thanks to its skilled labor availability, integrated infrastructure, and proximity to key Canal governorates such as Port Said, Ismailia, and Suez. Its central location between SCZONE’s Red Sea and Mediterranean ports enhances its logistics competitiveness for export-driven industries.

Chairman Waleid Gamal El-Dien highlighted that the new GS Global Sourcing project reflects the growing confidence of global investors in SCZONE’s vision as a hub for international supply chains and branded apparel production. With this addition, total contracted investments in Qantara West Industrial Zone have reached US$ 579.5 million, generating over 27,300 direct jobs across 19 projects.

Established in 2017, GS Global Sourcing is part of a large industrial group with more than 25 years of experience in textile manufacturing. In 2022, the group recorded sales exceeding $600 million and currently produces approximately 100 million garment units annually for global brands.

The company operates manufacturing bases across Egypt, China, Bangladesh, Vietnam, Ethiopia, Kenya, and other key apparel-producing regions. The project underscores SCZONE’s ongoing commitment to industrial integration and its strategy to position Qantara West as a leading export-oriented manufacturing platform in the region.
