Devan Launches ‘Sleep Tight’ Technology To Enhance Sleep Quality At Heimtextil 2025

Devan, a global leader in sustainable textile finishes, has unveiled its latest innovation, “Devan Sleep Tight,” at Heimtextil 2025 in Frankfurt. This advanced sleep-promoting technology, designed to improve sleep quality and overall well-being, has shown promising results in an independent clinical trial.

Inspired by the growing global trend of “Beauty Sleep,” the technology features an active ingredient derived from an upcycled by-product of Australian Tea Tree oil. It works through dual pathways, via inhalation and skin contact, to enhance night-time rest, support skin regeneration, and promote a revitalized appearance by morning. Designed for applications in bedding, sleepwear and related textiles, Sleep Tight aims to transform nightly routines into rejuvenating self-care rituals.

The technology is based on microencapsulation, with 97% biobased, biodegradable microcapsules (tested under OECD 301B guidelines). These capsules release active ingredients through friction when in contact with the skin, allowing for both absorption and inhalation of beneficial compounds.

A clinical study involving 33 participants aged 18–60 with sleep-related issues demonstrated notable improvements after 30 days of using pillowcases treated with R-Vital NTL 10015 Sleep Tight. Participants reported enhanced sleep quality, reduced sleep latency and disturbances, decreased daytime dysfunction and an overall improvement in quality of life, as measured by the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI), a validated tool for sleep assessment.

At Heimtextil 2025, Sleep Tight was showcased not only by Devan but also by its partners, including Portuguese companies Crispim Abreu Lda and Lameirinho, as well as Hungary’s Naturtex, a leading producer of quilts and pillows. The technology is set to be commercially available by the second quarter of 2025.

“Collaboration is at the heart of innovation,” said Marleen Van der Auwera, BU Leader of the Health & Wellness Division at Devan Chemicals. “By working closely with trusted industry leaders, we’re not just launching a product—we’re creating a solution that sets a new benchmark for sleep-promoting textiles.”
