DuPont Launches Tyvek APX: Next-Generation Breathable Chemical Protective Fabric

DuPont unveiled Tyvek APX, a new disposable chemical garment fabric, at A+A 2025 in Düsseldorf, Germany. Developed through extensive research and customer collaboration, Tyvek APX is the most advanced evolution of Tyvek to date, offering significantly improved breathability without compromising protection or durability.

“Tyvek APX addresses a key challenge in protective clothing: improving breathability while maintaining performance,” said Dave Kee, Global Business Director, DuPont Personal Protection. “It delivers an exceptional combination of protection and comfort, particularly in physically demanding workplaces.”

With industries placing greater emphasis on worker well-being, the need to manage heat stress in protective garments has grown. Tyvek APX improves air and moisture exchange, helping reduce heat build-up and supporting long-term wearer comfort.

Backed by scientific evidence, an independent Empa physiological study confirmed the enhanced breathability of Tyvek APX coveralls. Global wearer trials involving nearly 300 participants across diverse climates and work conditions also indicated strong preference for the new high-breathability fabric.

“For more than 50 years, Tyvek has defined protective clothing standards,” Kee added. “Tyvek APX builds on that legacy, setting a new benchmark for comfort and safety.”
