Functional Fabric Fair Portland Records Highest Attendance

Functional Fabric Fair’s Fall 2026 edition recorded its highest-ever attendance, up 7% over Fall 2025, with a sold-out exhibition hall featuring more than 350 exhibitors. Held from October 26–28 at the Oregon Convention Center in Portland, the event focused on sustainable material innovation and sourcing for Fall/Winter 2027/28.

Powered by PERFORMANCE DAYS, the fair brought together apparel executives, designers, product developers and sourcing professionals from brands including Adidas, Arc’teryx, Columbia Sportswear, Lululemon, Nike, Patagonia, REI and Under Armour.

More than 50 suppliers participated in the fall edition for the first time, presenting functional fabrics, finishes, trims and accessories for sportswear, outdoor apparel, workwear, activewear and other applications.

“Selling out the exhibit hall and Day 0 while growing attendance tells us Portland has become a must-attend sourcing destination for the performance apparel community,” said Steve McCullough, Event Vice President, Functional Fabric Fair.

The sold-out Day 0 OIA Catalyst Conference, developed with the Outdoor Industry Association and presented by GORE-TEX Brand, attracted more than 300 professionals. Sessions covered sustainability, regulatory developments, artificial intelligence and practical industry case studies.

The AATCC-sponsored Expert Talks programme featured nearly 20 sessions addressing performance science, circularity, regulations and trend forecasting. Bio-based materials were the edition’s focus topic, with discussions examining scalability, feedstock sourcing, traceability and certification.

A new Cellulose Forum showcased natural and regenerated cellulosic materials, complementing dedicated cotton, wool, bodywear and garment technology forums. Other highlights included the Innovation Zone and Future Fabrics Expo Innovation Hub.

Forum award winners included High Fashion Garments for Bodywear, Pharma Foods International for Cellulose, Yesung Textile for Cotton, Pontetorto for Eco, Paltext for Innovation, FLYTEC for Performance and Takisada-Nagoya for Wool.

The next Portland edition is scheduled for April 13–15, 2027, with Day 0 on April 13.
