Giriraj Singh Sees Bhilwara Emerging As A Major Textile And Garment Hub

Union Minister for Textiles, Giriraj Singh, expressed optimism about Bhilwara’s transformation into a prominent textile and garment manufacturing hub in India. Speaking briefly with the media on the sidelines of a programme in the city on Tuesday, Singh said the region holds immense potential to generate employment for the youth through the textile industry.

“I foresee Bhilwara developing into one of the most modern and significant textile and garment manufacturing centres in the country,” the minister stated. “However, achieving this vision will require substantial investment—estimated between ₹30,000 crore to ₹60,000 crore. For mobilising such large-scale funding, coordinated efforts between the Centre and the Rajasthan government are essential.”

Singh pointed out that such coordination was lacking during the previous Congress-led state government, which, according to him, hampered Bhilwara’s growth trajectory. “The spirit of cohesion and synergy between the Centre and the state was missing earlier, which adversely impacted the region’s development,” he remarked.

However, Singh said the current political environment is more conducive to growth, with effective coordination among local MLAs, the Member of Parliament, the state government, and the central government.

In a political aside, the minister also predicted a victory for the NDA in the upcoming Bihar assembly elections. “People in Bihar are not in the mood to replicate a West Bengal-like situation. I am confident the NDA will return to power,” he added.
