Grasim Launches Ecosodium Recovered From VSF Production
Grasim Industries has launched EcoSodium, which is Sodium Sulphate (SS) recovered from the viscose staple fibre (VSF) production process.
“This recovery helps in reducing the environmental footprint through limiting the discharge in waste water,” a Grasim press release informed.
Sodium Sulphate, an inorganic chemical with extensive applications, is traditionally sourced from mining or synthetic means.
“Grasim is in sync with global best practices in sodium sulphate recovery by continuously improving its processes,” the Aditya Birla Group company added.
“With EcoSodium, we are not only delivering on sustainability but also redefining industry standards,” ManMohan Singh, Chief Marketing Officer at Grasim Industries said.
With full traceability of raw materials and conforming to REACH, ZDHC MRSL, EcoSodium ensures responsible sourcing and manufacturing practices.
Moreover, recovery of sodium sulphate during fibre manufacturing process reduces total dissolved solids (TDS) and salinity in treated wastewater, further promoting sustainability.
“EcoSodium exemplifies our commitment to embracing sustainable practices and solutions,” Surya Valluri, Chief Sustainability Officer at Grasim Industries also said.
EcoSodium’s production process, management systems, traceability of all raw materials, and supply chain management were all assessed by UK based BluWin Ltd.
Applications of EcoSodium span various industries like textiles, detergents, glass manufacturing, zinc smelting, pulp and paper, and leather chemicals, aligning with the vision of sustainable development.
