Hanover Prepares For ITMA 2027 After Three Decades

Hanover is set to welcome participants of ITMA 2027, the world’s largest textile and garment technology exhibition, marking the first time the city hosts the event in over 30 years. The exhibition will take place from 16 to 22 September 2027 at Messegelände Hannover, spanning 200,000 square metres across 13 exhibition halls.
ITMA, held every four years since 1951, was last hosted by Hanover in 1991. The successful bid for 2027 was spearheaded by Deutsche Messe, in collaboration with the city of Hanover and the office of the Lord Mayor.
Exciting Prospects for Accommodation
Hanover, a renowned trade fair hub, offers an impressive variety of accommodation options to suit every need, including hotels, guesthouses, inns and private apartments. With over 18,000 hotel beds in the city and an additional 54,000 beds in the surrounding metropolitan area, ITMA participants will have ample choices. Furthermore, 4,000 private accommodations are available nearby. For motorhome and caravan owners, a dedicated campground opposite the exhibition venue will also be available.
Dr Jochen Koeckler, Chairman of Deutsche Messe, stated, “The majority of accommodation options are within 30 to 90 minutes of the fairground. We will also make an additional 700 rooms available next year in the city centre to meet growing demand.”
To streamline the booking process, ITMA Services has partnered with bnetwork, an experienced destination management company, to manage hotel and vacation apartment bookings. A dedicated website for accommodation will be launched soon, and inquiries can be directed to itmahotels@bnetwork.com
A Convenient and Connected Destination
While Hanover may not be a primary global gateway, it is well-connected within Europe and beyond. The city boasts direct high-speed train links and a well-connected airport, making it a convenient transit point for business travelers. The exhibition venue is easily accessible by public transport, with two modern light rail stations providing direct connections to the city centre, as well as direct access to motorways and ample parking facilities.
Alex Zucchi, President of CEMATEX, which owns ITMA 2027, expressed enthusiasm for the upcoming event, saying, “Hanover has the infrastructure to support a massive exhibition. Our team, in collaboration with the venue owner, is working hard to ensure a seamless experience for all participants, akin to previous editions.”
Further exhibition details will be available on the ITMA 2027 website, set to launch in July. Stand space applications will open in September.
The last ITMA exhibition in Milan, 2023, attracted 1,709 exhibitors from 47 countries and over 111,000 visitors from 143 countries.
