URBN Joins U.S. Cotton Trust Protocol To Strengthen Sustainable Sourcing Goals

The U.S. Cotton Trust Protocol has announced that global retail group URBN has become its latest member, reinforcing the company’s commitment to responsible cotton sourcing and sustainable supply chain practices.
URBN, whose portfolio includes popular brands such as Urban Outfitters, Anthropologie, Free People, FP Movement, and Nuuly, aims to source 100% of its cotton from responsible sources by 2027. The company also plans for 60% of all direct-sourced raw materials to come from responsible origins within the same timeframe.
“At URBN, we are committed to ensuring the cotton we use is grown in an environmentally and socially responsible manner,” said Barbara Rozsas, Chief Sourcing and GTC Officer at URBN. “We recognize that joining the U.S. Cotton Trust Protocol is a positive step toward traceability and visibility of our cotton supply chain’s environmental impact.”
The U.S. Cotton Trust Protocol is a voluntary sustainability programme dedicated to establishing a data-driven, traceable standard for responsibly grown U.S. cotton. It supports continuous improvement across sustainability metrics such as land use, soil carbon and water management, providing member brands with access to measurable and verifiable data.
“We are pleased to welcome URBN to the U.S. Cotton Trust Protocol,” said Daren Abney, Executive Director of the Trust Protocol. “URBN’s commitment to sustainable sourcing aligns with our mission to promote responsible cotton production and continuous improvement throughout the cotton value chain.”
URBN’s membership builds on its broader sustainability initiatives, including efforts to increase circularity, adopt better materials, reduce waste, and transition to cleaner energy. By collaborating with the Trust Protocol, URBN will benefit from supply chain traceability and farm-level data, ensuring that the cotton used across its product lines meets rigorous sustainability standards.
