Heimtextil 2025 Ignites Optimism In Textile Industry – Sintex COO Balkrishan Sharma

The Heimtextil 2025 exhibition has reinforced positive momentum for the global textile industry, according to Balkrishan Sharma, Chief Operating Officer of Sintex Industries Ltd (a member of the Reliance Group).

Reflecting on the event, Sharma emphasized the increasing focus on sustainability, artificial intelligence, and innovative fibres like pineapple, hemp, and banana. “The industry is prioritizing sustainability and reducing carbon footprints, with natural fibre innovations gaining significant attention,” he noted.

Sharma also pointed to a gradual improvement in market sentiment, with the exhibition serving as a crucial barometer for the industry’s trajectory. “Uncertainty is fading, and clarity is emerging,” he remarked. “The strong turnout at the event reflects an optimistic outlook for the coming year, with visitors showing confidence in products such as cotton, linen, blends, and bleached cotton.”

India’s participation in the exhibition was particularly noteworthy, aligning with the Make in India initiative. Sharma highlighted the positive effects of the rupee’s depreciation on Indian exporters, stating, “With an improving supply chain and depleted inventories, demand is on the rise. Between April and December 2024, cumulative textile and apparel exports grew by 7.63% compared to the same period last year, indicating steady progress.”

Discussing global trends, Sharma underscored the advantages of the China Plus One strategy, which is benefiting India alongside other nations like Vietnam and Bangladesh. “India is well-positioned to capitalize on this shift, provided companies enhance their operational efficiency and scalability,” he explained. He also noted that Turkey’s 30% wage hike and internal challenges in Bangladesh are creating further opportunities for Indian yarn and apparel manufacturers.

Looking ahead, Sharma expressed confidence that 2025 will surpass the previous year’s performance. “The trends are encouraging, and we are optimistic that this year will bring even greater opportunities for the Indian textile sector,” he concluded.
