Kyocera Europe Partners With Swiss iprint Institute To Advance Inkjet Tech

Kyocera Corporation announced that its European subsidiary, Kyocera Europe GmbH, will collaborate with the iPrint Institute and Competence Center, a Swiss public research institute specializing in inkjet technology, beginning October 2025. The partnership will leverage Kyocera’s proprietary inkjet technology to explore new applications, including 3D printing, coating and printed electronics.

Digital printing, particularly inkjet technology, allows production of the required quantity directly from image data while minimizing environmental impact by eliminating liquid waste from plate-cleaning processes. Recent trends toward small-lot, multi-variety production and increased automation have accelerated the shift from conventional analog to digital printing.

Kyocera’s EX Series inkjet printheads, developed using its fine ceramic technology and precision fluid channel design, have established the company as a market leader in textile and commercial printing, holding the top market share as of August 2025. Through this collaboration, Kyocera aims to expand its technical capabilities in Japan and Europe to enable applications beyond traditional printing.

iPrint, affiliated with the School of Engineering and Architecture of Fribourg (HEIA Fribourg) at HES-SO, Switzerland, attracts global engineers and companies for research in inkjet technology. Its facilities allow experimentation with a wide range of inks, including materials that are traditionally challenging to handle.

Under the partnership, Kyocera will establish a dedicated workspace within iPrint to evaluate specialty inks and materials, analyze data, and enhance its technical support capabilities. The collaboration is expected to accelerate innovation in inkjet applications, advance industrial adoption, and contribute to global environmental sustainability.
