Lenzing’s Tencel & Kaihara Partner On New Denim Jeans Line
Lenzing Group, a global producer of cellulose fibres and Japanese denim manufacturer Kaihara have collaborated to introduce a new denim line by using Tencel fibres.
The collaborative new line debuted at the ‘Kaihara x Tencel Denim Week’ which began from October 16 in Tokyo, Japan.
“Since Tencel fibres were first introduced to the Japanese market in 1994, Kaihara has masterfully woven these fibres into their collections,” Lenzing said in a press release.
“Together with the Tencel excellence in fibre performance, Kaihara transcends the traditional boundaries of denim fabric manufacturing with innovative designs, authentic aesthetics and diverse functionality,” Lenzing added.
“Kaihara is a well-respected and long-standing mill partner along our journey of denim fabric innovation,” said Dennis Hui, Global Business Development Manager, Denim at Lenzing.
“The adoption of botanic and biodegradable materials like Tencel fibres in denim fabrics, allows Kaihara to expand into new categories dominated by synthetics while enabling to achieve sustainability goals,” Hui too added.
According to Lenzing, denim fabrics made with Tencel fibres enable a versatile design with an authentic look and feel, creating soft and comfortable textures for the finished product.
“They also come with the inherent benefits of enhanced breathability and colour retention and so caters to the different needs of global brands and consumers who seek variety,” the Austrian company stated.
Lenzing and Kaihara will also be unveiling a specially curated capsule collection of seven new denim fabrics using Jeanologia’s finishing technology at the Lenzing booth during Kingpins Hong Kong.
