Lululemon’s Impact Report Showcases Sustainability Progress

Lululemon published its fourth annual Impact Report, detailing the company’s progress in FY23 across its social and environmental commitments. The report emphasizes Lululemon’s integrated Impact Agenda, launched in 2020, which focuses on the interconnected pillars of Be Human, Be Well, and Be Planet.

“In 2023, we made significant strides toward our impact goals while identifying new opportunities for acceleration,” said Calvin McDonald, CEO. “We are committed to implementing tangible strategies and transparently sharing our progress with stakeholders.”

Lululemon continues to advance its 2030 climate targets and aims for net-zero emissions by 2050. The company is actively addressing supply chain emissions and sourcing 100% renewable electricity in its facilities, guided by data and industry collaboration.

Esther Speck, Senior Vice President of Sustainable Business & Impact, highlighted the importance of partnerships: “We are dedicated to working with stakeholders across our value chain to drive meaningful change.”

Key achievements from the FY23 Impact Report include:

Be Human

  • Achieved 41% racially diverse representation of employees below Assistant Manager level in retail stores across multiple regions.
  • Ranked #1 for the second consecutive year on the KnowTheChain benchmark for transparency in forced labour policies.

Be Well

  • Reached 7.4 million people since 2021 through the Lululemon Centre for Social Impact, providing access to well-being tools.

Be Planet

  • Launched repair programmes in most stores in Mainland China and Europe, with pilot programmes in Australia and New Zealand.
  • Introduced one of the world’s first enzymatically recycled nylon 6,6 products, a milestone in textile recycling.
  • Increased the procurement of preferred materials to 57%, up from 44% in 2022.

Lululemon is currently planning the next iteration of its Impact Agenda, which will include updated goals and targets for the future.
