MP Opens Industry Office In Coimbatore to Boost Trade Ties Between MP And TN
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav announced the establishment of a Madhya Pradesh industry office in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, to enhance investment and strengthen trade ties between the two states. Addressing the ‘Invest MP-Interactive Session’ in Coimbatore, Dr Yadav emphasized the objective of the Investors Summit: fostering inter-state cooperation through trade and business, with the ultimate goal of making India a leading global economy.
Dr Yadav lauded the industrial success of Coimbatore and Tiruppur, inviting Tamil Nadu’s industrialists to explore new business opportunities in Madhya Pradesh. The Chief Minister inaugurated the session by lighting a ceremonial lamp and offering water to a Tulsi plant, symbolizing a prosperous partnership. The session saw participation from over 1,200 representatives, resulting in investment proposals exceeding Rs 3,500 crore for Madhya Pradesh, underscoring the state’s industrial potential.
2025 Declared as the Year of Industry
Dr Yadav highlighted the rapid development of Madhya Pradesh’s textile, garment, automobile and engineering industries, urging industrialists to seize the moment and invest in the state. The government aims to integrate Madhya Pradesh’s industries into the global supply chain during the “Azadi ka Amrit Kaal.” The Regional Industry Conclave initiative was launched to promote investment across the state.
Tamil Nadu Industrialists Encouraged to Embrace Investment Opportunities
Dr Yadav invited Tamil Nadu’s industrialists to the Global Investors Summit in Bhopal on February 7-8, 2025, emphasizing the favourable ecosystem for the textile industry in Madhya Pradesh. The state offers a special readymade garment policy with up to 200% financial assistance on fixed capital investments to attract large-scale garment industries. A state-of-the-art Skill Development Centre is being established in Jabalpur, and an MoU has been signed with the Tiruppur Exporters’ Association for skill and cluster development. The PM Mitra Integrated Mega Textile Park in Dhar district highlights Madhya Pradesh’s growing prominence in the textile sector.
Focus on Automobile Engineering and Electric Vehicles
Madhya Pradesh hosts over 10 OEMs and 200 auto component manufacturers. The state is preparing a dedicated policy for electric vehicles, developing an EV-dedicated industrial area near Indore. Production of EV commercial vehicles, two-wheelers and three-wheelers is underway. Key infrastructure includes the Indo-German Tool Room in Indore and the Natrax Auto Testing Track in Pithampur.
Ideal Industrial Destination
Madhya Pradesh offers a welcoming, development-oriented and environmentally-friendly environment for industries. The state boasts robust connectivity, ample land for industrial use and a commitment to clean energy. It has over 320 industrial areas, 10 food parks, 5 IT SEZs, and various other industrial parks and SEZs in development.
Presentations and MoUs
During the interactive session, presentations were given by key departments on investment promotion and industrial policies. Three MoUs were signed: one with the Indian Cotton Corporation for promoting ELS cotton production, one with the Tiruppur Exporters’ Association for skilled manpower and textile cluster development, and one with the South India Mills Association for cotton cultivation and R&D sharing.
The session witnessed participation from Coimbatore, Chennai and Tiruppur investors, and representatives from over 20 local industrial organizations, including the Tiruppur Exporters’ Association, the Southern India Mills Association, and the Apparel Export Promotion Council.
