MSME Textile Park Launched In Kurnool To Boost Weaver Welfare And Industry

In a major push towards industrial development in Kurnool district, the ground-breaking ceremony (‘bhumi puja’) for the proposed Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Park at Banavasi in Yemmiganur mandal was held on Tuesday. The upcoming park is envisioned as a dedicated hub for textile and allied industries.

In the first phase, basic infrastructure is planned across 22 acres and is expected to be completed within three months. The remaining 50 acres will be utilised for establishing textile-related units, including an effluent treatment facility to support sustainable operations.

Speaking at the ceremony, BC Welfare, Handlooms and Textiles Minister S. Savitha reaffirmed Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s commitment to the welfare of handloom weavers. She criticised the previous administration for its neglect of the sector and noted that CM Naidu, having directly witnessed the hardships faced by weavers in Mangalagiri, had directed her to prioritise their needs.

“As soon as the NDA came to power, we started providing 200 units of free electricity to handlooms and 500 units to powerlooms every month. We are also setting up handloom clusters, conducting exhibitions, and have allocated ₹348 crore for various weaver welfare schemes,” she said.

Industries and Commerce Minister T.G. Bharath, also present at the event, assured that efforts would be made to secure wider recognition for textiles made in Yemmiganur. He added that he would work towards having Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) use shawls produced in Yemmiganur and said his own department would also source shawls from the region.

“The NDA government is committed to developing Andhra Pradesh across all sectors. If given two decades in power, we will transform the State into one of the most developed in the country,” Mr. Bharath asserted.

Minorities Welfare Minister N. Md. Farooq and other dignitaries also attended the event, marking a strong show of support for the region’s industrial and textile sector development.
