OEKO-TEX Partners With TextileGenesis To Digitize Organic Cotton Traceability

OEKO-TEX® has partnered with TextileGenesis, a Lectra company, to digitize Transaction Certificates (TCs) for organic cotton supply chains, aiming to strengthen fraud prevention and improve traceability as demand accelerates. The move comes amid a 381% year-on-year surge in OEKO-TEX® ORGANIC COTTON certifications as of December 31, 2025.
Under the collaboration, OEKO-TEX® will integrate TextileGenesis’ traceability platform and token-based Fibercoin™ system, enabling secure digital chains of custody from fiber to finished product. This replaces paper-based certification workflows and links material flows to verified digital data points, reducing administrative burdens for supply chain actors.
TextileGenesis CEO Amit Gautam said the collaboration will make organic cotton claims “easier to manage and verifiable at scale,” while enhancing transparency for brands and suppliers. OEKO-TEX® CEO Dr. Alfred J. Beerli described the initiative as a key step in the organization’s wider digital roadmap, stating that data-driven systems will strengthen certification integrity and scalability.
The digital transition builds on OEKO-TEX®’s existing GMO testing framework, which validates raw fiber and yarn through 17 international testing institutes to protect organic integrity at source.
A pilot conducted from March to August 2025 across India and Bangladesh involved eleven supply chain participants and validated 19 certified digital transactions. Supplier feedback showed high acceptance, citing reduced manual effort and improved traceability confidence.
Following the pilot, both partners plan to scale digital certificates across more organic cotton supply chains. OEKO-TEX® indicated the model could extend to other standards and product groups in future.
