Singapore Fashion Council And Shein Launch “Every Body Matters” Inclusive Design Competition

Empowering Emerging Designers to Champion Diversity and Inclusion in Fashion
The Singapore Fashion Council (SFC) has announced a strategic partnership with global fashion and lifestyle e-retailer Shein to launch the “Every Body Matters” Inclusive Design Fashion Competition — a dynamic initiative that aims to promote diversity, inclusivity and representation in fashion.
This global competition is set to empower emerging fashion designers and industry professionals to challenge traditional beauty standards by creating designs that embrace all body types, abilities and identities. “Every Body Matters” is more than just a contest — it’s a movement to ensure fashion reflects the full spectrum of humanity.
“We are excited to partner with Shein on this groundbreaking competition,” said Zhang Ting-Ting, CEO of the Singapore Fashion Council. “Fashion speaks to everyone, and we believe it should embrace all people — regardless of size, shape, ability or identity. This competition offers a truly inclusive platform for emerging designers to showcase designs that mirror the diverse world we live in.”
The initiative comprises eight key components that provide participants with robust support, practical experience and professional exposure:
- Runway Show – A celebratory showcase of finalists’ inclusive collections on the catwalk.
- Workshops – Practical sessions that equip designers with tools and insights to grow their careers.
- Mentorships – One-on-one guidance from leading fashion experts to nurture creative and business skills.
- Field Trips & Research – Immersive experiences offering cultural and contextual inspiration for inclusive design.
- Physical Showcase – An opportunity for designers to present their work to both consumers and industry professionals.
- Masterclasses – Expert-led sessions covering topics like sustainable fashion, inclusive design and entrepreneurship.
- Livestream – A global digital broadcast of the competition’s highlights to engage audiences worldwide.
- Networking Access – Finalists will receive exclusive passes to SFC’s “Be the Change Summit 2025”, where Shein is a Platinum Sponsor.
“We’re proud to join forces with the Singapore Fashion Council for this meaningful initiative,” said Leonard Lin, Shein EMEA President, Global Head of Public Affairs, and General Manager, Singapore. “At Shein, we are committed to making fashion accessible to all and supporting designers who are redefining what fashion means in an inclusive world.”
