Sutlej Textiles Releases Inaugural Sustainability Report

Sutlej Textiles and Industries Limited has released its inaugural Sustainability Report for FY2024-25, outlining the company’s long-term ESG roadmap focused on circular manufacturing, climate action, responsible sourcing and operational resilience.

The report highlights Sutlej’s efforts across renewable energy, recycled fibres, water stewardship, ethical governance and workforce development as the company strengthens its sustainability-led growth strategy amid evolving global compliance and traceability requirements.

For FY2024-25, Sutlej reported revenue of Rs 2,664.97 crore and EBITDA of Rs 68.18 crore, while maintaining an IND A+ credit rating from India Ratings and Research.

The company said sustainability is being integrated into core business operations rather than being treated as a standalone initiative. Key focus areas include renewable energy adoption, resource efficiency, circular fibre integration and enhanced supply chain transparency.

Commenting in the report, Ashish Kumar Srivastava, Whole Time Director & CEO said, “Sustainability is not adjacent to business strategy. For a company with over nine decades of heritage in the textile industry, our responsibility is clear, to ensure that every dimension of how we grow, invest and innovate is guided by sound environmental, social and governance principles.”

Sutlej currently recycles over 4.8 million PET bottles daily and produces 120 MT per day of recycled polyester staple fibre. During FY2024-25, the company used 49,055 MT of recycled polyester and 9,616 MT of sustainable cotton across its operations.

The company also reported significant progress in water management and waste reduction initiatives, including 5,520 KLD Zero Liquid Discharge capacity, over 13.8 lakh KL of recycled water usage and 93.47 percent total waste recovery and reuse. Waste sent to landfill was reduced to 0.45 percent.

On the energy front, Sutlej installed 2.77 MWp rooftop solar capacity, resulting in daily energy savings of 14,835 kWh. The company also highlighted ongoing efforts toward climate risk mitigation and Scope 3 emissions assessment as part of its long-term decarbonisation roadmap.

The report noted that Sutlej is progressively preparing for Digital Product Passport (DPP) requirements by strengthening fibre traceability systems, digitising supply chain documentation and integrating sustainability data into ERP systems.

In governance and social responsibility, the company reported zero cases of corruption and anti-competitive practices during the year, while women represented 25 percent of the Board and 17.42 percent of the overall workforce.

Sutlej said its sustainability strategy is aligned with global frameworks including the SEBI BRSR framework, GHG Protocol and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. The company also reiterated its focus on responsible sourcing, circular economy models and certified sustainable product offerings to strengthen competitiveness in global textile markets.
