Textile PRO Forum Launched To Harmonize EPR Schemes Across Europe

In a major step towards streamlining Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) for textiles and footwear across Europe, leading Producer Responsibility Organizations (PROs) and business associations launched the Textile PRO Forum. This voluntary initiative aims to harmonize practices and share insights for the efficient implementation of textile EPR systems across EU member states.
With the mandatory separate collection of textile waste and the revision of the Waste Framework Directive nearing completion, EPR schemes are critical to advancing sustainability and circularity in textiles. However, varying national laws and market conditions have resulted in diverse EPR models across Europe, creating challenges for businesses.
Coordinated by EURATEX and initiated by Refashion and EURATEX, the Textile PRO Forum seeks to address these complexities by fostering collaboration, reducing administrative burdens, harmonizing eco-modulation fee frameworks and supporting recycling efforts.
Key participants include organizations such as Refashion, Danish Fashion & Textile, Finnish Textile & Fashion, TEKO, and Fedustria. The initiative highlights a united effort to create a more sustainable and circular textile industry in Europe.
