Trident’s Rajinder Gupta Gets Extension In Punjab Panel

The Punjab Government has extended the tenure of Rajinder Gupta, Chairman Emeritus of Trident Group, as Vice Chairman of the Economic Policy and Planning Board. He will continue in the role, with the rank of Cabinet Minister, until 22 August 2028.
The extension, approved by the Honourable Chief Minister of Punjab, reflects the state’s continued trust in Gupta’s strategic foresight, business acumen, and deep commitment to Punjab’s socio-economic development. It comes at a critical juncture as the state intensifies efforts in public-private partnerships, industrial growth, infrastructure expansion, and youth employment initiatives.
A globally respected industrialist and philanthropist, Gupta has long championed sustainable growth, entrepreneurship, and grassroots development. Under his stewardship, Trident Group has evolved into one of India’s leading conglomerates with a global presence in textiles, paper, and chemicals, consistently setting benchmarks in innovation, inclusivity, and ESG-driven progress.
The extension supports Gupta’s central role in shaping Punjab’s economic roadmap, one aligned with India’s national development goals and positioning the state on the global growth stage.
Widely acknowledged for his contributions to entrepreneurship, employment generation, and rural industrialization, particularly in Punjab and Central India, Gupta has also held numerous public policy and advisory roles. During his previous tenure as Vice Chairman, he played a key role in crafting Punjab’s industrial policy, driving investment promotion, strengthening infrastructure, and formulating sustainable economic strategies.
