Türkiye’s Textile Exports Reach US$ 7.16 Billion In January–September 2026

Türkiye’s textile sector exported goods worth US$ 7.16 billion in the first nine months of 2026, with Europe remaining its largest market and shipments to Africa and the United States recording growth.

According to the Southeastern Anatolia Exporters’ Associations, textile producers shipped 1.84 million tonnes of products to 201 countries and free zones during January–September.

The European Union accounted for US$ 2.69 billion in exports, retaining its position as the sector’s biggest regional market. Shipments to African countries increased 7.8% year-on-year to US$ 1.17 billion.

Italy was the largest individual destination, purchasing textiles worth US$ 563 million. Egypt followed at US$ 464 million, up 13%, while exports to the United States rose 18.2% to US$ 452 million.

Fabrics dominated the export basket at US$ 4.35 billion, followed by yarn at US$ 1.87 billion and fibre at US$ 943 million.

Among Türkiye’s provinces, Istanbul led with textile exports of US$ 2.75 billion. Gaziantep followed with US$ 1.23 billion, ahead of Bursa at US$ 927.6 million and Kahramanmaraş at US$ 570 million.

Ahmet Öksüz, Vice Chairman of the Türkiye Exporters Assembly and Textile and Raw Materials Sector Representative, said the industry should strengthen its European presence while making better use of opportunities in alternative markets, particularly the United States.

A gradual recovery in global demand and easing inflationary pressures in key markets could help exports gather momentum during the remainder of 2026 and into 2027, he said.

Öksüz added that the sector’s priority was to raise the value-added content of exports alongside shipment volumes, helping build lasting international competitiveness.
