Union Minister Of Textiles Praises NITRA’s R&D Innovations
On August 21, 2024, Union Minister of Textiles, Giriraj Singh, met with Dr. M. S. Parmar, Director and senior scientist at the Northern India Textile Research Association (NITRA), to commend their R&D achievements. The focus was on NITRA’s work on “cellulose-based indigenous high Clo value and low-density surface modified natural fibre for developing thermal layers for extreme cold climate clothing.”
During the meeting, Dr. Parmar presented the minister with a piece of nonwoven fabric crafted from a specially developed hollow natural fibre. Impressed by the innovation, the Minister promptly reached out to the Director General of NIFT to explore the design of various products based on this advancement.
