VMD Mini Textile Park Inaugurated In Karur

Karur, Tamil Nadu, witnessed a significant milestone on March 4, 2025, with the grand inauguration of the VMD Mini Textile Park at Kakavadi. Initiated by the Karur Textile Manufacturer & Exporters Association (KTMEA), this marks the region’s first Mini Textile Park, aimed at strengthening the local textile sector.
The event was graced by Thiru R. Gandhi, Minister for Handlooms and Textiles, and Thiru V. Senthil Balaji, Minister for Electricity, Prohibition, and Excise, Tamil Nadu. They were welcomed by KTMEA’s Honorary President M. Nachimuthu, President P. Gopalakrishnan, Secretary S. Sukumar, Joint Secretary A. Sethupathi, and HEPC Vice Chairman V. Ramesh.
Senior officials, including Principal Secretary (Handlooms, Handicrafts, Textiles, and Khadi) Amuthavali IAS, Director of Textiles R. Lalitha IAS, Director of Handlooms Maheswari Ravikumar IAS, and Additional Director of Handlooms R. Tamilarasi, also participated. Karur City Municipal Corporation Mayor V. Kavitha Ganesan, Deputy Mayor Dharani Saravanan, MLAs, and District Collector M. Thangavel were among the dignitaries present.
The inauguration of VMD Mini Textile Park is expected to drive innovation, empower local artisans, and boost Karur’s standing as a key textile hub.
