‘Swiss Technology Continues To Redefine Precision, Sustainability And System-Wide Connectivity’

The ITMA Asia + CITME 2025 exhibition in Singapore is an opportunity to build relationships, exchange expertise and explore solutions with forward-thinking partners, as well as showcasing innovations, says Cornelia Buchwalder
What key innovations or technologies will your members be showcasing at the event?
Swiss textile machinery manufacturers will be showcasing advanced solutions that align with the industry’s three key priorities: automation, sustainability and digital integration. The highlights will include AI-based process control systems, real-time monitoring platforms, predictive maintenance and energy-efficient production technologies. Visitors can expect to see not just high-performance machinery, but also machinery designed for resource optimisation, with reduced water, chemical and energy consumption built into every stage of the textile value chain.
Will there be any standout products or world premieres unveiled by your members?
Yes, several Swiss manufacturers are preparing to launch upgraded product lines and world premieres at ITMA Asia + CITME 2025. These innovations include fully integrated digital platforms, next generation spinning and finishing technologies, and smart automation tools that enable adaptive manufacturing. While specific product details will be unveiled at the event, the overarching message is clear: Swiss technology continues to redefine precision, sustainability and system-wide connectivity.
Are there any sectoral trends or developments that visitors should look out for at your members’ booths?
A few clear trends will stand out. First, the shift toward intelligent manufacturing, where systems communicate, self-optimise and provide actionable data to operators. Secondly, there is a strong focus on circularity and sustainability, with machinery supporting fibre recycling, water reduction and low-carbon production. Lastly, there is a rise in modular and future-ready designs, which allow mills to upgrade their existing infrastructure without replacing the entire system. All of these reflect the changing expectations of textile producers, who must compete on both cost and compliance.
With the show returning to Singapore after many years, what are your expectations in terms of networking, market reach and global exposure?
We are very optimistic about the return of ITMA Asia to Singapore, exactly 20 years after the last edition was held there in 2005. With its world-class infrastructure, favourable visa conditions and strong regional connectivity, Singapore offers excellent access for visitors from across Asia and beyond. We anticipate engaging with professionals from India, Southeast Asia, and other key markets.
For our members, this event is about more than just showcasing products: it’s an opportunity to rebuild personal connections, understand market shifts and strengthen long-term relationships. Returning to Singapore is both symbolic and timely, providing a dynamic platform to showcase Switzerland’s ongoing leadership in textile innovation.
Is your association planning any dedicated activities, presentations or networking opportunities during the exhibition?
Yes, the Swiss Textile Machinery Association is organising several key activities to support visibility and engagement during ITMA Asia + CITME 2025. We are planning a press conference for international media, where selected member companies will present their latest innovations and share insights on industry trends. This event will provide a valuable platform to communicate the strengths and priorities of Swiss technology to a global audience.
Additionally, we will host an informal gathering for our members and their customers, creating a more informal setting to strengthen relationships and exchange ideas. These activities, combined with the strong presence of 29 Swiss exhibitors, reflect our commitment to fostering meaningful dialogue and supporting business development in one of the most important textile events in Asia.
How is your association supporting and promoting your members’ participation in the 2025 edition?
The Swiss Textile Machinery Association acts as a key point of contact before, during and after the exhibition, supporting member companies across all sectors of the textile value chain. We assist in facilitating connections, coordinating communications and ensuring that visitors and partners can easily engage with Swiss exhibitors.
As a member of CEMATEX, the European Committee of Textile Machinery Manufacturers and co-owner of ITMA ASIA + CITME, we are also actively involved in promoting the exhibition internationally. This includes outreach in key markets and contributing to content that adds long-term value for industry stakeholders.
One important initiative we are proud to support is the Sustainability Forum, organised by CEMATEX alongside the exhibition. Sustainability is now a global imperative. With the EU Strategy for Sustainable and Circular Textiles approaching, manufacturers exporting to the EU must prepare for regulatory changes, such as Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR), Digital Product Passports, and Eco-design requirements. The half-day forum will feature insights from the European Commission and leading sustainability experts, offering practical guidance on how to navigate and prepare for these developments
Is there anything else you’d like to share about your association’s presence at ITMA Asia + CITME 2025?
Our presence at ITMA Asia + CITME 2025 demonstrates Switzerland’s ongoing commitment to promoting the development of the textile industry across Asia, particularly in India, which is our key strategic partner. We see tremendous potential for closer cooperation, especially following the recently concluded Free Trade Agreement between India and the EFTA states, including Switzerland. This agreement establishes a solid basis for enhanced business exchange, technology transfer and long-term collaboration between our industries.
For our members, the exhibition is an opportunity to build relationships, exchange expertise and explore solutions with forward-thinking partners, as well as showcasing innovations. We look forward to welcoming visitors from India and demonstrating how Swiss technology can contribute to more efficient, sustainable and future-ready textile manufacturing.
