Sanathan Textiles Subsidiary Acquires 26% Stake In Serentica Arm To Secure Renewable Power

Sanathan Textiles Limited has announced that its wholly owned subsidiary, Sanathan Polycot Private Limited (SPPL), has entered into a Agreement along with a Power Supply and Consumption Agreement (PSCA) to acquire a 26% stake in Serentica Renewables India 33 Private Limited, a subsidiary of Serentica Renewables India Private Limited.

The acquisition is aimed at enabling SPPL to source renewable power as a captive consumer with a contracted capacity of 32 MW. The total investment for the stake acquisition stands at Rs 48 crore.

The transaction is subject to customary conditions precedent and regulatory approvals and is expected to be completed in line with the agreed timelines under the SSSHA.

The primary objective behind the investment is to secure a long-term, cost-effective supply of renewable energy for SPPL’s manufacturing operations. By participating as a captive user under the prevailing regulatory framework, the company aims to ensure energy security while mitigating exposure to volatile power costs.

The move also aligns with Sanathan Textiles’ broader sustainability agenda, particularly its focus on reducing emissions intensity and transitioning towards cleaner energy sources. The arrangement is expected to support long-term energy cost optimisation while strengthening the company’s environmental commitments.

Serentica Renewables India 33, incorporated in June 2025, is engaged in the development and operation of solar and wind power projects, including ISTS-connected captive energy solutions in India. Given its recent incorporation, the company does not yet have a three-year financial track record.

Sanathan Textiles operates across three key yarn segments polyester yarns, cotton yarns, and yarns for technical textiles and industrial applications, currently managed under a unified corporate structure. The latest investment underscores the company’s strategic shift towards integrating sustainable energy solutions into its core manufacturing ecosystem.
