Reju Secures €135 Million Funding For Textile Recycling Hub In Netherlands

Reju has secured €135 million in funding under the Netherlands’ Nationale Investeringsregeling Klimaatprojecten Industrie (NIKI) programme to develop an industrial-scale textile-to-textile regeneration hub at Chemelot Industrial Park.
The funding will support both the construction and initial operations of the facility, marking a key milestone toward the project’s final investment decision. The initiative aligns with the Dutch government’s broader efforts to accelerate industrial decarbonisation and promote circular economy practices.
The planned Regeneration Hub will process post-consumer polyester-rich textile waste that would otherwise be sent to landfill or incineration. Using advanced recycling technology, the facility will convert these materials into circular intermediates for new polyester production.
According to the company, the regenerated output—branded as Reju Polyester—can deliver up to 50% lower carbon emissions compared to virgin polyester, supporting efforts to reduce the environmental footprint of textile manufacturing. The materials will be reintegrated into downstream supply chains for conversion into yarns and fabrics.
Patrik Frisk, CEO of Reju, described the funding as a strong endorsement of the company’s technology and its role in advancing circular textiles in Europe. He noted that the project aims to establish a scalable model for reducing emissions and enabling sustainable raw material production.
Chemelot Industrial Park was selected for its established industrial ecosystem, shared infrastructure and proximity to research and innovation capabilities, which are expected to support efficient scale-up and long-term operational reliability.
