LYCRA Company Launches Antistatic Fibre For Workwear At Techtextil 2026

The LYCRA Company has unveiled its LYCRA antistatic fibre at Techtextil 2026, marking its entry into advanced anti-static solutions for workwear and personal protective equipment (PPE).
Engineered to combine safety with comfort, the new fibre features built-in anti-static properties through proprietary additives embedded directly into the fibre structure. This enables effective static charge dissipation while maintaining the stretch and recovery performance associated with the LYCRA brand.
The innovation targets high-risk industrial environments including petrochemicals, electronics, pharmaceuticals and aerospace, where electrostatic discharge can pose safety hazards, attract dust and impact wearer comfort. Fabrics made with LYCRA antistatic fibre can support compliance with recognised standards such as EN 1149 and IEC 61340, depending on fabric construction.
Designed as a drop-in elastane solution for knit fabrics, the fibre allows mills to integrate anti-static functionality without modifying existing production processes. It is available in multiple decitex options, supporting a wide range of applications including base layers, outerwear and protective garments.
“By combining anti-static protection with comfort and freedom of movement, we aim to enhance both safety and wearability in professional apparel,” said Marc Souto.
At Techtextil, the company also showcased its broader fibres that work portfolio, including LYCRA T400 fibre for durability, COOLMAX EcoMade fibre for moisture management using recycled polyester and THERMOLITE solutions for lightweight insulation.
With increasing demand for high-performance protective textiles, the launch reinforces LYCRA’s push into functional fibre innovations tailored for industrial and technical applications.
