Oil Green–Hindustan Waste JV To Advance Circular Bioenergy Infrastructure

In a significant move aligned with India’s circular economy and clean energy ambitions, OIL Green Energy Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of Oil India Ltd, has signed a joint venture agreement with Hindustan Waste Treatment Pvt. Ltd. to jointly develop integrated bioenergy and sustainable waste management projects across the country.

The partnership will establish a 50:50 joint venture company focused on compressed biogas (CBG), waste-to-energy solutions and resource recovery infrastructure, supporting India’s transition towards low-carbon industrial development.

The collaboration is expected to create scalable opportunities in sustainable waste processing and renewable energy generation, areas increasingly relevant for manufacturing sectors seeking greener supply chains and improved environmental performance.

For India’s industrial ecosystem, including the textile sector, the development highlights the growing emphasis on circular resource management and cleaner energy alternatives that can help reduce operational carbon footprints and strengthen sustainability compliance across production networks.

Oil Green has been established to lead Oil India’s expansion into renewable and green energy domains, including biofuels and emerging clean technologies. The initiative reflects the company’s broader strategy to diversify beyond conventional hydrocarbons and support India’s long-term energy transition roadmap.

Meanwhile, Hindustan Waste Treatment, a subsidiary of SFC Environmental Technologies Ltd., brings extensive expertise in waste-to-energy engineering, execution and operations. The company has successfully deployed advanced municipal solid waste-based biogas technologies in India, including a long-running facility in North Goa.

The partnership underlines the increasing role of cross-sector collaborations in building sustainable infrastructure and accelerating circular economy adoption—an area of growing strategic importance for industries such as textiles, where energy efficiency and responsible waste management are becoming central to future competitiveness.
